President S R Nathan Receives SSA Friendship Award

On 2007 June 26, some 1,200 SSA members welcome Singapore President S R Nathan to the SSA Headquarters. This historic visit by President Nathan is particularly significant in this year of SSA’s 40th Anniversary, as the President paid tribute to SSA for the years of contribution to the annual National Day Parades performances since 1981.

During his visit, President Nathan unveiled a plaque at the SSA Friendship Hall, officially naming it as “a meeting point for cultural, peace, and educational exchanges to promote goodwill and friendship.”

At the meeting, President Nathan received the highest accolade of the organization, the SSA Friendship Award from SSA Chairman Ong Bon Chai.

Following the meeting, SSA representatives also had a 40-minute dialogue with His Excellency.
