SGI President Ikeda’s Book Dedicated to Singapore Launched

In this significant 50th year of Singapore’s independence, a new book by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda was launched in Singapore. Titled A Tribute to the Lion City: The Jewel of Southeast Asia, the book is a compilation of SGI President Ikeda’s writings, thoughts and interactions with Singapore, her leaders and her people over the course of his three visits to Singapore in 1988, 1995 and 2000. President Ikeda pays tribute to Singapore on the occasion of her golden jubilee in 2015 through the publication of this book, which reflects his respect and deep admiration for Singapore.

More than 1,200 SSA representatives attended the ceremony at the SSA Headquarters while others gathered at Senja Culture Centre and Soka Youth Centre to view a screening of the ‘live’ event video stream. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Home Affairs and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. More than 50 other distinguished friends of SSA attended the book launch ceremony.

SSA members look forward to sharing these words of wisdom from President Ikeda with their fellow Singaporeans, working together to make the “Jewel of Southeast Asia” shine ever brighter! The book is available at all SSA sales outlets and the SSA e-sales website and selected book stores.

(The full report of the book launch, including the text of speeches delivered, can be found in SSA Times issue 518.)
