09 Aug 2004 SSA Youths Present Dynamic Performance at NDP 2004
A total of 1,200 SSA Youth Division members and friends presented a dynamic performance, “Our People, Our Passion”, at the National Day Parade 2004 held at the National Stadium on August 9.
Clad in glistening costumes of brilliant blue and sparkling orange, the youthful performers, aged 14 to 35, danced to the cheers of the 60,000-strong crowd at the stadium. Their dynamic dance steps and callisthenic formations, coupled with the use of pom-poms and light props climaxed with the formation of an eight-tiered human pyramid by 123 Young Men Division members. The Singapore flag was raised high at the top of the pyramid, to symbolize Singapore’s determination to scale greater heights through strong comradeship and unity.
Besides the youths, 57 SSA Women Division members also performed in an item presented by the People’s Association.
This year marks SSA’s 19th participation in the National Day Parade. The event was broadcast ‘live’ via television and the internet to some three million people.
