10 Tampines Street 81 Singapore 529014
The SSA Student Division will be holding the Youth for Peace Symposium 2019, themed “A People-centred Approach towards a New Era of Peace”, on 30 June 2019, 1.00-4.00pm at the SSA Headquarters (10 Tampines Street 81 S529014).
Organised annually by the SSA Student Division since 2017, this series is held in response to Soka Gakkai International (SGI) President Dr Daisaku Ikeda’s lifelong pursuits for the peace and happiness of all humanity, with a particular focus on his submission of an annual Peace Proposal to the United Nations since 1983.
Highlights of this year’s Symposium include the SGI exhibition “Everything You Treasure – For a World Free From Nuclear Weapons”, a delightful cultural performance, and a panel sharing based upon Dr Daisaku Ikeda’s 2019 Peace Proposal, titled “Toward a New Era of Peace and Disarmament: A People-centered Approach”.
The SSA Student Division sincerely invites all youths to join them at this year’s Symposium, inspiring one another towards building a more peaceful society.
Registration for the Symposium opens on 22 May 2019 and interested participants may register at the following link: https://boeportal.ssabuddhist.sg/studentdivisioneventregistration.
“Humanity possesses the power of solidarity, a strength with which we can overcome any adversity.”
— Dr Daisaku Ikeda, 2019 Peace Proposal to the United Nations
The world at large is facing various issues, from the proliferation of nuclear weapons, armed conflicts, civil strife, refugee crises, environmental pollution, to accessing basic necessities, such as clean water, food, healthcare and education. “Amid the continued escalation of global challenges, crises that were previously unthinkable are now becoming reality throughout the world.”
Amidst these daunting challenges, Dr Daisaku Ikeda, President of Soka Gakkai International, at the age of 91, continues his peace endeavours in delivering his annual Peace Proposal to the United Nations (UN) since 1983, offering his thoughts for humankind to undertake towards world peace and focusing upon bringing forth the positive qualities in each individual.
