First SSA-Ikeda Peace Award Presented at Singapore Management University

On February 6, the first SSA-Ikeda Peace Award was presented to a second year student of Singapore Management University (SMU) on SMU’s Patron’s Day. Ms Ong Han Ying was jointly recommended by the SMU’s Dean of Students and Office of Career Services for her active contribution and participation in community engagement besides excelling in her academic studies.

This event was held at the SMU campus where the Guest of Honour was President of the Republic of Singapore His Excellency S R Nathan, who is also the Patron of SMU. The Award was presented to the recipient by SMU Pro-Chancellor Mr Yong Pung How. SSA Chairman Ong Bon Chai was present to witness the event.

[The SSA-Ikeda Peace Award was established on March 15 in 2008. The annual Award comes in the form of a financial contribution. A total of five awards, commencing academic year 2008/2009 till 2012/2013, will be presented to deserving students.]
