25 Apr 2018 Friends from Assyafaah Mosque visit SSA on Learning Journey
On April 25, SSA hosted 26 staff and volunteers from Assyafaah Mosque at the SSA Headquarters as part of their learning journey, to continuously discover and learn best practices in programmes that serve the community.
Leading the delegation was Vice-Chairman of Assyafaah Mosque, Mr Mohd Saleh Bin Bk Moideen. SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat and Women Division Chief Sek Soon Heng hosted the visit.
The learning journey started with a tour of the SSA Heritage Room that introduced the Soka Gakkai and Soka Gakkai International movement, the history of SSA and her efforts in the community in promoting peace, culture and education over the past five decades.
In the lively dialogue that ensued, various questions and exchange of ideas were put forth in the areas of youth development, members’ engagement, and management of corporate affairs.
In response to a question on how SSA motivates her membership, General Director Tay attributed it to the fundamental spirit of Nichiren Buddhism which teaches the importance of treasuring each person, thus enabling each member to fully display their potential whilst creating utmost value in the various activities.
Both organisations reaffirmed the shared aspiration to continue their efforts in serving the community, and most importantly, treasuring the new friendship that has been forged.
