[Hospice palliative care is a holistic comprehensive care of patients facing life limiting illnesses, aiming to relieve pain and other distressing symptoms and providing psycho-social and spiritual support to patients and their families. It is estimated that about three quarters of cancer patients in Singapore in 2004 received some form of hospice palliative care before their death. Hospice movement first started in Singapore as a grassroots movement some two decades ago.
