Earth, our home, has beauty and abundance of life. As SGI President Daisaku Ikeda says, “Every single thing in existence is worthy of supreme reverence. Nature is not something for human beings to exploit as they see fit, solely for their own interests. Both nature and humanity are part – and at the same time complete expressions – of the life of the universe. To destroy the natural world is to destroy human life.”
In 2010 Soka Gakkai International (SGI), in a joint initiative with Earth Charter International, produced an exhibition entitled “Seeds of Hope”. This exhibition succeeds the “Seeds of Change” exhibition. The Seeds of Hope exhibition introduces the idea of the interconnectedness of life and some case studies of individual principles of the Earth Charter. It stresses protection of the environment and provides concrete ideas for people to act on.
SSA supports the facts and views presented in the exhibition which has been displayed at various institutions and organisations in Singapore that advocate sustainable development of the environment.
