Scandicci, ITALY: On March 16, a ginkgo tree is named after first Soka Gakkai President Tsunesaburo Makiguchi on the “Avenue of Humanity and Human Rights” inaugurated in the new Vingone Park in Scandicci, a suburb of Florence. The avenue includes 12 trees of different species, each named after a champion of human rights and peace, including Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mother Teresa. The mayor of Scandicci (on the right of the nameboard) also attended the ceremony.
