20 Oct 2005 Yo Kano Inspires “A Passion to Live”
“When I was young, I wanted to achieve many things for myself. After I met President Ikeda, everything took on a change in my life. President Ikeda Said, ‘Please cultivate a big heart.’ I was deeply impressed by these simple yet important words and I said to myself, ‘I want to be a person like that,'” said Mr Yo Kano as he shared his first encounter with President Ikeda with an attentive audience.
Organised as the “Friendship for Peace Concert” series, Mr Yo Kano held four concerts on October 20, 21, 23 and 24, respectively at SSA headquarters. The concerts, titled “An Evening with Yo Kano” attracted a total of 4,200 SSA members and friends. Everyone was touched by the music that resonated from the heart of Mr Yo Kano, who is visually impaired.
In recognition of his friendship and support towards the ideals and activities of the Soka Gakkai International, SSA General Director Ong Bon Chai presented Yo Kano with the SSA Golden Lion Peace Award on October 23.
Mr Yo Kano left behind more than just memories of his wonderful music. He has “etched” in our hearts his tenacious passion to live on and to always cherish a noble dream.
