23 Jan 2006 SSA Chairman Attends Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner for Senior Citizens at the North East
SSA organised a Chinese New Year reunion dinner for some 120 senior citizens staying in the North-Eastern part of Singapore on January 23. This event was part of the Community Service Project, “Voices of Spring — A Chinese New Year Song Singing Festival.”
Held at the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry; this event was also part of the Economic Restructuring Shares Service Project. Guest-of-Honour for the evening was Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs & Mayor of North East Community Development Council (CDC). Other distinguished guests included Mr Ricky Tam, Principal of Institute of Technical Education College Central and Mr Lee Peng Shu, Vice-Chairman of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Education Committee).
Four senior citizens, the Soka Junior Choir and the Men Division Choir performed at the dinner, singing traditional Chinese songs which brought much festive joy to the audience.
