SSA Pays Tribute to Late Founding Prime Minister Lee

Singapore Soka Association (SSA) joined the nation in mourning and paying tribute to the late founding Prime Minister through a series of special commemorative events. Upon receiving news of Mr Lee’s passing, SGI President Ikeda also sent a message of condolence to Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

SSA held tribute prayer ceremonies on March 25 and 28 at the SSA Headquarters and Senja Soka Centre to offer sincere prayers in remembrance and honour of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Some 6,600 SSA members and their families participated in these ceremonies.

Together with some 9,000 residents, SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat and Vice General Director Oh Kheng Yam joined Minister Heng Swee Keat and Grassroots Advisers to Tampines Grassroots Organisation at the Community Tribute Night held in honour of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew on March 28. At the event, General Director Tay presented Minister Heng with a condolence book and 2,100 condolence cards written by SSA members and friends.
On March 28, SSA Chairman Ong Chin Chong and Honorary General Director Ong Bon Chai joined representatives from 20 faith groups at a special memorial service organised by the Inter-Religious Organisation (Singapore). After observing a minute of silence, the representatives penned their messages of condolence with profound gratitude for the founding Prime Minister’s contributions towards inter-religious and inter-racial harmony.
