SSA’s Advisory No. 22
23 July 2020
ADVISORY FOR ALL SSA MEMBERS
– TOGETHER WE DIALOGUE!
Greetings to all! I hope everyone is keeping well and in high spirits!
I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to all for your great efforts in the last six months, staying connected with the organisation and carrying out the Courageous 123 Actions amidst these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you very much.
We have just successfully commemorated various significant Soka Gakkai milestones, such as July 3 – Mentor and Disciple Day, July 11 – Young Men Division Formation Day and July 19 – Young Women Division Formation Day over the past weekends. We are happy to see that our youth have taken the initiative to launch the “Together We Dialogue” movement from July 3 towards October 2 and November 18, to further embark on conducting sincere dialogues with one more person. Though this initiative is spearheaded by the Youth, we would like to call forth to all Four Divisions to work together to engage in heart-to-heart dialogues with every single person to inspire in them hope, and awakening in them their inner potential so as to foster one more lion-hearted disciple. Through these life-to-life encounters, let’s ensure that we leave no one behind, as we study and share Nichiren Buddhism and Sensei’s encouragement to all.
In view of the evolving situation, we will be continuing most of our key faith activities such as our monthly Study and Discussion meetings online in August. Do get in touch with your leaders for the details of these activities so as not to miss out on any of these important faith nourishment platforms. In addition, we will be gradually commencing some of our operations at the SSA Headquarters (HQ) and the Senja Soka Centre’s An-Le Columbarium.
With this gradual resumption of SSA HQ’s operations, we would like to request for everyone not to rush to the SSA Centres during the initial phase of the re-opening. You are still strongly encouraged to go online, as much as possible, for any queries, processing of Esales, subscription services for our Publication, and/or making your donations.
In addition, during these challenging times of a pandemic, let’s also encourage those who have yet to receive the Gohonzon to take this significant year of the Soka Gakkai’s 90th Anniversary of its founding to do so.
Ikeda Sensei once shared, “Through our daily practice of reciting the sutra and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we can join the eternal Ceremony in the Air here and now. We can cause the treasure tower to shine within us and to shine within our daily activities and lives. That is the wonder of the Gohonzon. A magnificent cosmos of life opens to us, and reality becomes a world of value creation”
As the world battles against the next wave of the pandemic, it is all the more important for us to chant wholeheartedly to the Gohonzon and manifest the much required wisdom, life-force and courage daily. Meanwhile, please continue to stay prudent, take good care of our health, and exercise utmost caution in whatever we do.
Nichiren Daishonin writes in the Gosho,
“Though the embankment between rice fields is firm, if there is an ant hole in it, then surely, in the long run, it will not remain full of water.” (WND 1, p 626).
Sensei has shared the following in relation to this Gosho, “Small things matter. Carelessness and arrogance — which give rise to such thinking as “I’ll be fine” or “This shouldn’t be a problem” — will act as the “ant hole,” or weakness, that leads to trouble.”
Let us continue to be vigilant and not be caught off guard as we gradually resume some activities at the Centres. Based on strong prayers, let’s also carry on with our daimoku for the complete resolution of the Thank you very much.
Please convey my warm regards to your families.
