SSA Joins in 40th National Day Celebrations

The theme of the performance put up by the 1,200 SSA participants from the adult divisions at the National Day Parade (NDP) may
best capture our hopes and aspirations for Singapore’s future — Soaring to greater heights!

True to the spirit of this inspiring theme, the performers presented a spectacular show at the Padang on August 9th, after going through six months of intense training, and numerous rehearsals. They presented an eight-minute performance in Act 3 of the show segment. This is SSA’s 20th participation at the national event.

SSA Youth joined in the National Day Celebration at the Heartlands
This year, the National Day spirit of celebration was brought to the heartlands. Residents in Tampines, Yishun and Jurong East gathered and celebrated Singapore’s 40th birthday simultaneously with audience at the Padang. Contributing to this significant occasion, SSA accepted invitations to put up performances not only at the Padang but also at Tampines, Yishun and Jurong. In addition to the 1,200 adult division members performing at the Padang, another 1,000 youth members gave stirring performances at the three heartlands locations.

These youth who last performed at SSA’s Youth Peace Culture Festival in July, demonstrated their spirit of contribution to the nation by volunteering to perform again. Despite the short notice and limited practice sessions, many felt honoured to be a part of the national celebration.
